Mind the Consent Compliance Gap: Leveraging AI Consent Audit to Prevent Fines and Unlock Hidden ROI from Your Consent Management Platform
You bought the consent management platform. You configured it. Someone signed off, and on go-live day it worked. So why does an audit eighteen months later turn up vendors firing on a visitor who declined?
A consent management platform deployment is a project with a go-live date. Consent compliance is a program that must run continuously. Most organizations treat it as the former.
From the session
Scott Bekker of Future B2B moderates. Ivan Tsarynny takes the technical half — what regulators have actually been fining, and why manual auditing stops scaling. Ethan Sellers of FLLR Consulting Partners takes the program half — what to do about it inside a real governance function.
Three things go wrong after go-live, and none of them show up in the platform’s own dashboard:
- 01 Configuration drift. The platform was configured correctly at launch. Then the estate changed around it — tag changes, site releases, new vendors — accumulating without re-validation.
- 02 Untested consent states. Decline and No Action are rarely exercised. Accept-only testing leaves the states that actually matter to a regulator unchecked.
- 03 Vendor non-compliance. Third-party vendors fire regardless of the captured consent state, and often nobody is checking whether they honour it.
The answer they lay out is a six-step operating model rather than a tool purchase:
- 1Identify
- 2Discover
- 3Govern
- 4Prevent
- 5Monitor
- 6Archive
Ethan then connects audit findings to the systems a governance team actually runs on — ingest into the GRC platform, rank by regulatory exposure and traffic volume, route to the responsible team with an SLA clock, verify the fix by re-scan rather than self-attestation — and prioritises remediation as critical, elevated or standard rather than treating every finding alike.
It closes on a 90-day roadmap: discover and baseline in the first month, assess and design in the second, deploy and operationalise in the third.
Worth watching if you own:
- A CMP investment you need to defend to finance or to the board
- GRC workflows, and consent evidence currently arrives as a screenshot
- Privacy operations across GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and a growing list of state laws

The audits in this session were run the same way anyone can run one: from the outside, on your public-facing pages. No installation, no code changes.
